X-Brite is a display technology currently used on all Sony laptop LCDs. In Europe, this technology is called X-Black. It makes a screen look brighter and the colors look more vivid than on a standard LCD screen. However, some glare is caused.
This technology was first introducted on Sony's ultraportable laptop series, the Vaio TR. This technology has been imitated by other laptop manufacturers whom give it different names. HP, for example, calls this technology BrightView.
