The Turner Broadcasting System (often abbreviated to Turner or TBS) is the company managing the collection of cable networks and properties started by Ted Turner in the mid-1970s. Their current assets include CNN, TBS Superstation (and flagship station WTBS), Turner Network Television, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Turner South , Turner Classic Movies, and the WB Network. TBS is the biggest part of the Turner Entertainment holding company, which was sold to Time Warner in 1996; it now operates as a semi-autonomous unit of Time Warner.
