Tony Lloyd

Anthony Joseph Lloyd (born 25 February 1950) is a British politician. He is member of Parliament for Manchester Central, and is a member of the Labour Party. He was first elected in 1983. He became a junior minister in 1997, but was sacked in 1999 and remains a backbencher.

Whilst a junior minister, he remained (as was to be expected) fiercely loyal to the New Labour policies of the UK Government. However, since leaving this post, voting records have shown a strong left-wing inclination, with him appearing as a rebel teller on several notable occasions. He is also a Vice-President of the Western European Union.
