Student syndrome

Student Syndrome refers to the phenomenon that many people will start to fully apply themselves to a task just in the wake of a deadline:

No matter how long you give students to work on something, they will start the night before.

This leads to wasting any buffers built into individual task duration estimates.

Noted by Eliyahu M. Goldratt in his book, Critical Chain.
