Sonya Smith (born May 25, 1971) is the stage name of Sonya Eleonora Smith Jacket, a half-Venezuelan, half-American actress who is a star on the Venevision television channel.

Born in Philadelphia, Smith grew up in Venezuela, which is the reason why she speaks Spanish perfectly. As a young girl, she identified deeply with Venezuela's Latin American culture.

Her breakthrough came in the early 1990s, as "Estrellita Montenegro" in Cara Sucia, a Spanish soap opera that was viewed by millions across Latin America, in the United States and Europe. During the filming of another soap opera, Milagros , she met actor Paul Martin , whom she allegedly dated.

Smith remains a popular actress in Venezuela.
