Social Democratic Party

There are a large number of political parties named the Social Democratic Party. Broadly speaking, a political party which identifies itself by the name Social Democratic Party may be considered as espousing the principles of Social Democracy, but the Portuguese and Gibraltarian parties are regarded as exceptions to this rule. Not all social democratic parties use the explicit name mentioned above like the British Labour Party for instance.
