Scion tC

The Scion tC is a front-wheel-drive, front-engine sports coupe introduced by Toyota in 2004, under its Scion brand name. The Scion tC will replace the Toyota Celica and Toyota MR2, which will be retired from North America at the end of 2005. The Scion tC is a new design based on two other Toyota cars, the European market Avensis and the Japanese market Caldina . The 2.4 L 2AZ-FE engine is shared with the current model Toyota Camry. The tC is meant to attract young buyers through its sporty styling, high feature content, Toyota's reputation for reliability, and its low price (about $16,000 US as of 2004). The Scion will also be offered with a Toyota Racing Development supercharger, upping the base power rating to about 200 hp (150 kW). The name tC does not fit in with its stablemates the xA and xB because the name has already been taken by Volvo for its XC70 and XC90.
