Schlossplatz (in English, "Palace Square") is a square in the centre of Berlin in Germany.
It was the site of the Berlin City Palace (in German, Berliner Stadtschloss). From 1949 to 1990 it was in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). In 1950 the remains of the city palace were blown up and in 1951 the square was renamed Marx-Engels-Platz. New buildings erected included the Palast der Republik, the Council of State building and the Foreign Ministry building.

The Council of State building contains a balcony from the former city palace. This balcony was used by Karl Liebknecht to proclaim a socialist republic on November 9, 1918.
In 1994 the old name Schlossplatz was restored.
The Palast der Republik is scheduled to be destroyed in 2005-06. The German parliament has decided to reconstruct the City Castle at Schlossplatz.
