Samba is a lively, rhythmical dance of Brazilian origin in 2/4 time danced under the Samba music. Its origins include the Maxixe.

Today, there are two types of Samba that differ significantly:

• Ballroom Samba.
• Traditional Brazilian Samba of the Brazilian carnivals.
