Salaam (Arabic: سلام) is a word that literally means "peace." It most commonly refers to the Islamic greeting: as-salaamu alaykum ("Peace be upon you") and the associated response wa alaykum as-salaam ("And upon you be peace"). It is also one of the 99 Names of God.
