Richard Attwood (born 4 April 1940 in Staffordshire, England) was a Formula One driver who raced for the BRM, Lotus and Cooper teams. Prior to Formula One he started racing in 1960 at the wheel of a Triumph TR3. In 1963 he entered Formula Junior, where he won the Monaco race in a Lola. He enjoyed some success in Formula 2 with a win in Austria, and also raced a Ford GT sportscar. During his Formula One years he managed a sixth place in both the Italian and Mexican GPs in 1965 and a spectacular chase to second place along with a fastest lap at Monaco in 1968, behind Graham Hill's Lotus. In 1969, after a series of disappointing performances, he finished fourth in Monaco; it was the end for his Formula One career. He then went on to win Le Mans 24 Hours in 1970 with a Porsche 917, along with Hans Herrmann. He retired from motorsport in 1971. In his whole F1 career he achieved one podium and scored a total of 11 championship points.
