Dr. Revilo Pendleton Oliver (1908-1994) was a professor of Classical philology, Spanish, and Italian at the University of Illinois, who wrote and crusaded extensively for anti-communist and Racial Nationalist causes. He worked with distinction for U.S. military intelligence during the Second World War. During the 1950s, we was invited by William F. Buckley to join the original staff of National Review magazine, widely regarded as the most influential publication within American conservatism during the second half of the 20th century. He also joined Robert Welch in being one of the founding members of the anti-Communist John Birch Society. It wasn't until the 1960s that Dr. Oliver finally broke utterly with conventional American conservatism and the Republican Party, and thus came to openly embrace an essentially National Socialist worldview, and eventually to assist dissident physicist Dr. William L. Pierce in forming the National Alliance, which is today the leading White Nationalist organization within the English-speaking world
Pseudonyms
He also used the pen names "Ralph Perier" (for The Jews Love Christianity and Religion and Race) and "Paul Knutson" (for Aryan Asses). It is claimed [1] that Oliver was the actual author of the Introduction (credited to Willis Carto) to Francis Parker Yockey's Imperium.
As a Palindrome
Revilo P. Oliver is recognized in certain circles after a search in the Annals of Improbable Research for having a name that functions as an effective palindrome. There are others known (such as Mark Kram) but Mr. Oliver is generally viewed as having the longest.
