Progress Energy Inc. (NYSE: PGN) sells power and energy-related products to electric and gas customers in the Southeast of the United States. Progress Energy, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, was formed in 2000 when Raleigh-based Carolina Power & Light acquired Florida Progress Coporation. The company's current chairman and CEO is Bob McGehe.
