Politics of the Faroe Islands


The Faroe Islands are part of the Kingdom of Denmark, but have been self-governing since 1948. There are currently 36 municipalities.

Executive branch

Legislative branch

The Faroese Parliament (Løgting) has 27 - 32 seats. Members are elected by popular vote on a proportional basis from the seven constituencies to serve four-year terms.
