Peter Michael Ainsworth (born 16 November 1956) is the Conservative Member of Parliament for East Surrey.

He was educated at Ludgrove , Wokingham; Bradfield College, Berkshire, and Lincoln College, Oxford.

Career

• 1979-1981 research assistant to Sir John Stewart-Clark .
• 1981-1992 financial analyst.
• 1992-1996 backbencher.
• 1996-1997 Government whip.
• 1997-1998 Opposition whip.
• 1998-2002 Shadow secretary of state for culture, media and sport.
• 2001-2002 Opposition spokesman on the environment.

He is married with 2 daughters and a son.
