Peiligang culture

Peiligang culture was a Neolithic Yellow River culture based in the central plains of ancient China. Archaeologists discovered the primary site in 1977 in Peiligang, Henan Province. The oldest estimates place the culture at almost 8000 BC. More modest estimates date the site at around 5000 BC.

The culture practiced agriculture in the form of millet farming and animal husbandry in the form of pig raising. The culture is also one of the oldest in ancient China to show evidence of pottery-making.
