King Orodes III of Parthia was raised to the throne of the Parthian Empire by the magnates after the death of Phraates V, c. AD 6. He was killed after a short reign "on account of his extreme cruelty" (Josephus). After his death, Phraates' brother Vonones I tried to assume the thone, but a civil war with Artabanus II followed.
