Okuni (出雲阿国: Izumo no Okuni, 1572?–1613) was the main founder of kabuki theater. She was an attendant at the Izumo Shrine who began a new style of dance in the dry riverbeds of Kyoto.

Okuni is also a playable character in the Koei corporation's new PlayStation 2 game Samurai Warriors. She has ongoing romances with Goemon Ishikawa and Keiji Maeda.
