OC Weekly

OC Weekly, a sister publication of The Village Voice, is a free weekly paper circulated in Orange County, California. Its political coverage is generally liberal. It routinely criticizes George W. Bush in a feature called "Burning Bush" and also carries liberal cartoons, such as Tom Tomorrow's "This Modern World."

It can be picked up in many coffee shops and other such local establishments. Many places, however, do not carry the paper because of its somewhat racy nature and political views (Orange County is a very conservative county).

The OC Weekly takes pride in its art listings for both Orange and Los Angeles counties, rivaling the better-funded OC Register and Los Angeles Times.

Since the OC Weekly is a free paper, it relies on advertisements to turn a profit or simply stay afloat. As a result, most of the paper's space is taken up by advertisements for cosmetic surgery, erotica and escort services, with salacious pictures abounding.
