Noua Dreapta (The New Right) is a neo-fascist organization in Romania. Their beliefs include ethnic nationalism, strong Orthodox religious convictions and militant traditionalism. Noua Dreapta is sometimes regarded as a neo-nazi group, although they do not exhibit any strong anti-semitic feelings. Rather, they clash with Romania's two largest ethnic minorities, the Magyars and the Roma.
Noua Dreapta is strongly opposed to the principles of democracy, which it sees as an inadequate form of government. Some individual members are monarchists. The ultimate political aims of Noua Dreapta are somewhat unclear, but the organization has made it clear that it wishes to restore Romania to its pre-1940 borders ("Greater Romania").
Noua Dreapta is not registered as a political party and does not wish to stand in elections. Membership is quite small, from a few hundred to perhaps a few thousand members. The organization attempts to attract supporters through publicity campaigns aimed against what it sees as foreign (and therefore negative) cultural influences - such as Valentine's Day.
