Noon Meem Rashid (1909-75) is one of the most distinguished founding fathers of modern Urdu poetry. He was borne in the Eastern Punjab and did his masters in economics from the Government College Lahore. He served for the UN and remained in many countries and finally died in London. His first book of free verses ‘Mavra’ was published in the 1930s and it was the beginning of a new dawn in Urdu literature.
