Moral courage

Moral courage is an important concept in nursing, and perhaps in other healthcare disciplines. It is called for during times when right action goes against the status quo. Nurses are often called to speak or act on patients' behalfs and best interests and it requires moral courage because healthcare has become a business and research industry with pecking orders and competing interests that at times endanger patients. It takes moral courage to speak out for what is right when forces desire what is efficient for other gains.
