Monoglottism

Monoglottism (Greek monos, "alone, solitary", + glotta, "tongue, language") is the condition of being able to speak only a single language. Monoglot speakers are very common in English-speaking countries like the United States and United Kingdom, but in many other regions being able to speak two or three or more different languages is a part of everyday life.
