Born in 1948 in Nanyuki , Kenya, Meja Mwangi studied upto his A Level in Kenyatta College. He worked on odd-jobs for foreign broadcasters before he turned to full-time writing. Mwangi's work, more than any other Kenyan writer's, provides a representative view of the literature of the country as a whole, reflecting its main concerns and the direction of its evolution.
