Medfra is on the north of the Kuskokwim River, about 50 km (30 miles) by air northwest of Nikolai.

History

Medfra may have been a small seasonal camp before the arrival of Europeans in Alaska.

A trading post was established at Medfra in the early 1900s, as was a boat landing called called "Berrys Landing."
