Dr. Martin Mansergh is an Irish politician and member of the 22nd Seanad Éireann for Fianna Fáil. He was elected by the Agricultural Panel in the Irish general election, 2002.
He ran for Fianna Fáil as a Dáil candidate in the Tipperary South constituency in the same election but failed to be elected with 5,233 first-preference votes, just under 15% of the poll.
As a senior adviser to Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, he played a key role in the Northern Ireland peace process.
He is also a member of the Irish Council of State, having been appointed by President Mary McAleese.
He writes a weekly column on Saturdays for the Irish Times.
