A Lord Bishop in the United Kingdom is a bishop of the Church of England who is also a member, a Lord Spiritual of the House of Lords. Out of the 26 Lords Spiritual in the House of Lords two, the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Archbishop of York are archbishops. The Bishops of the Episcopal sees of London, Durham, and Winchester are Lord Bishops automatically, while the remaining 21 Lord bishops are selected from the most senior bishops of the Church of England.
All Lords Spiritual are Lord Bishops with the exception of the Archbishops of York and Canterbury who are Lord Archbishops. A Lord Bishop is referred to in House of Lords debates as The Right Reverend Prelate the Lord Bishop of X.
