Leopold Löwenheim

Leopold Löwenheim (born 1878 in Krefeld, died 1957 in Berlin) was a German mathematician, known for his work in mathematical logic. He was persecuted by the Nazis (he was only three quarters aryan, and was forced into retirement) and in 1943 much of his work was destroyed during a bombing raid on Berlin, yet he survived the Second World War, and resumed teaching mathematics.
