Kukkarahalli Kare (lake) is located in the heart of Mysore city. It adjoins the University of Mysore, Kalamandir (and Rangyana), and the CFTRI campus (separated by the Hunsur Road). It once used to provide water supply to the city of Mysore evident by the water pumping stations. At one time sewage, excessive land grabbing almost lead to the ruin of the lake, efforts are being made to preserve it both by the University of Mysore and the citizen forums of Mysore. It now houses a boating center. The lake shores are famous for its romantic patrons.
