John Nettles

John Nettles is a British actor. He was born in Cornwall on October 11th, 1943. He attended the Southampton University, studying philosophy and history. He has worked at the Royal Court Theatre, but he is best known for his role as Chief Inspector Barnaby in ITV's Midsomer Murders and from his role as Jim Bergerac in the eponymous TV series of the early 1980s. Recently, he was in the BBC production The Hound of the Baskervilles. Other appearances include Black Beauty and The Merchant of Venice. He now lives near Eversham with his wife.
