Prince Jerry Remigius Kanagarajah of Jaffna (Sri Lanka), was born on October 1, 1964, Sri Lanka. He is the youngest son of Raja Thambirajah Mervin Anthony Kanagarajah and Ilavarasi Maheswary Marina Antoinette Kanagarajah and his ancestors are from Sri Lanka, India and Malaysia. He is a Direct Descendant of the Jaffna Royal Family through his mother, and their root to origin is “Sangili Thoppu” (Nallur), Jaffna Kingdom.
H.R.H. Raja Jerry Remigius Kanagarajah was baptised a Catholic but he also participates in many Hindu religious ceremonies, traditional and customs of his people.
During the Indo-Sri Lanka Peace Accord he was appointed by the Red Cross as a Coordinating Administration Officer for the Northern and Eastern part of Sri Lanka. He has spoken to numerous International and Local Delegates concerning the effect of the war on the people of Sri Lanka, and he has worked with providing medial equipment to hospitals, tracing missing persons, and was in charge of inauguration of food distribution to refugees in different areas of Jaffna. He is also a member of Amnesty International. He lives in exile in Great Britain.
In 2002, he married Miss. Aishwary Rajnandhini Lusijah Rajaratnam in London, at The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, she now carries the title of Ilavarasi (Princess).
H.R.H. Raja Jerry Remigius Kanagarajah is a member of the Southeast Asia Imperial & Royal League, which promotes friendship between Royal Familes of Southeast Asia, to improve social and charitable work in their nations and to meet diplomatically to improve political issues within their nations. He shares the same ideals as League President Prince Nguyen Phuc Buu Chanh of Vietnam that their royal families can influence political, social and economic change to unify their people for a peaceful solution to all problems in their countries.
