Japantown is the portion of San Jose, California bounded by First Street to the west, 7th street to the east, Jackson Street to the south and Taylor Street to the north; it is just north of Downtown. The area is home to many Japanese Americans who settled in the area after returning from relocation camps in World War II. Many Japanese have left the area, which is becoming more of a restaurant destination than an authentic ethnic neighborhood.
