Hans Bender (1907-1991) was a lecturer on the subject of parapsychology, who was also responsible for establishing the parapsychological institute Instituts für Grenzgebiete der Psychologie und Psychohygiene in Freiburg. For many years his pipe smoking, contemplative figure was synonymous with German parapsychology. He was a tireless investigator of 'unusual human experience', e.g. poltergeists and clairvoyants. One of his most famous cases was the Rosenheim Poltergeist , thought by many to be the one for which the greatest scientific proof was produced, thanks to the efforts of the authorities of the town Rosenheim and several scientists and engineers called in to measure the effects.
