Guillermo Davila(born on 18 march 1955 in Caracas)is a well-known Venezuelan actor and singer. He got his first notable rol in theatre in 1972: In popular musical Godspell he played Jesus Christ. From the late 70's he began to work on TV playing the small rols in telenovelas, mini-series such as La Heredera, Natalia de 8 a 9 etc. He became famous internationally when he played the rol of poor musician Nacho, who loves a rich girl and wants to be a famous singer in tlenovela Ligia Elena in 1982. Ligia Elena was shown at 6 pm on Venevision. But because of very high rating was moved to prime-time 9 pm. Telenovela was so popular that Venevision decided to make a sequel of telenovela called Nacho. These telenovela's main song Solo pienso en ti sung by Davila became a major hit in all Latin America. This 2 soap operas was a big success in almost all Latin America. And helped to Davila to become a very popular and well-known actor and singer in Latin America. After this success he played main rols in telenovelas as Diana Carolina(1984) with Ivonne Goderich and Cantare para ti(I sing for you, 1985) with Giselle Blondet, co-productions of Venevision and WAPA TV. This telenovelas was also a success in many countries such as Puerto-Rico, Dominican Republic, Equador etc. In 1986 he played one of the main rols in Venezuelan telenovela El sol sale para todos which also was shown in prime time on Venevision. In 1989 he became a main hero of Fabiola a new prime-time soap-opera of Venevision. In this telenovela his female co-star was again Alba Roversi(co-star of Ligia Elena). This duet brings a success to the soap-opera. In 1990 he starred in Adorable Monica with Emma Rabbe which was also a super hit at 1 pm in Venezuela. In 1992 he plays main part in Cara Sucia(Dirty Face)-the major success of his life. This soap opera was shown in more than 80 countries all over the world. With this rol Davila became well-known in such different countries as Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Poland, Philipinnes, Indonesia, Mongolia, Egypte etc. In USA Cara Sucia was shown at prime-time on Univision with the highest rating. He make his comeback to telenovelas in 1995 with such soap-operas Dulce Enemiga (Sweet enemy) with Gigi Zanchetta and Contra Viento y Marea (Against all odds) with Ana Karina Manco which were also shown all over the world. In 1999 he starred telenovela Suenos(Dreams) in Peru and in 2001 Felina (Cat), which was his last main rol in soap-operas. In 2004 he made a special appearance in soap-opera called Cosita Rica (Beautiful Girl). Almost all telenovelas of Davila were successful in different places all around the world. As singer Davila has more than 10 albums released, several platin and gold discs in different countries. The soundtracks of almost all his soap-operas were sung by him. Among his great hits are such songs as Barco a la Deriva, LLevo Perfume a ti, Yo necesito mas de ti, Sin Pensarlo dos veces, POr Amarte tanto, Toda La Luz Que Brilla etc. Because of incredible popularity which Guillermo had during 80's and 90's in Venezuela he is called The Idol of a Generation. Guillermo was married twice and now is divorced. He has 2 teenager daughters.
