Granny Knot

The granny knot is a bend knot, used to tie together two loose ends. It looks a lot like the reef knot, or square knot, and is sometimes confused with it. When attempting to tie a reef knot, it can be easy to substitute a granny knot accidentally, but this is dangerous because the latter slips if heavily tested. Once the granny knot is too tightly knit, it is not as easy to undo as the reef knot. It is better to tie a reef knot in nearly all circumstances.
