Gold Award

The Gold Award is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the USA, and is considered comparable to the Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts.

The award can be earned by Senior Girl Scouts who are 14-17 years old. As of 2004, the requirements were revised, and the award now requires the following components:

  • The Girl Scout Gold Career Award Charm, which requires 40 hours of career exploration or starting your own business
  • The Girl Scout Gold Leadership Award Charm, which requires 30 hours of leadership work and three interest project patches
  • The Girl Scout Gold 4Bs Challenge Award Charm, which requires a variety of self-improvement activities

The capstone project must be a service project that reaches beyond the Girl Scout community and provides lasting benefit to the girl's larger community. It requires a minimum of 50 hours of work.
