Eric Brandon

Eric Brandon (born 18 July 1920 in East Ham, London, England; dead 8 August 1982) was Formula One driver who raced for the Cooper team. Before Formula 1 he was an alectrical goods wholesaler. He used to race Cooper 500cc cars in hillclimbs and sprints until in 1947 he won the first ever 500cc race in Britain, at Gransden Lodge airfield. In 1950 the series became known as Formula 3, of which Brandon won a title as well and continued competing until 1954. After 1954 he drifted away from motor racing and became interested in hydroplane racing.
