Edmund Wnuk-Lipiński (born in 1944 in Sucha, Poland), professor of Sociology, is the founder and first head of the Polish Academy of Sciences Institute of Political Studies. He was a Fellow at the Institute of Human Sciences in Vienna, the Unversity of Notre Dame , and Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin. He is a member of the Polish National Council for Civil Service and the National Council for European Integration.

He is also the author of a social fiction dystopia trilogy, Apostezjon (Wir pamieci, Rozpad polowiczny, Mord zalozycielski), and was the winner of Janusz A. Zajdel Award in 1988 for Rozpad polowiczny.
