Don Bell

Don Bell (born 1942) is a Canadian politician.

Bell is currently a member of the Liberal Party of Canada in the Canadian House of Commons, representing the riding of North Vancouver since 2004. Before being elected, he was the mayor of the District of North Vancouver.

Don Bell has never lost an election. He was first elected as Alderman in the District of North Vancouver in 1970, and again 1973. He was elected Mayor in 1976, 1979, and 1982. He then voluntarily returned to the private sector. In the 1980s he revived his political career and was elected for three terms as a school trustee. Then he returned to District Council being elected as a municipal councillor in 1993 and 1996. In 1999 he returned to the mayor's chair and was re-elected as mayor in 2002. Against most pundits' predictions, he federally won the North Vancouver riding for the Liberals in what had been a strong Conservative seat.
