Delroy Wilson

Delroy Wilson was a legendary ska, rock_steady and reggae singer.

He was born on 5 October 1948.

He released his first single "Emy Lou" in 1961 for Clement "Coxsone" Dodd at the age of 13. His transition to rock steady in the late 1960s produced many hits including "Conquer Me" and "Riding For A Fall". After leaving Studio One he continued to record into the 1990s.

In 1972, Michael_Manley's Peoples National Party chose "Better Must Come" as their election campaign song. A Bob Andy produced song, “The Last Thing On My Mind” rose to No. 1 in Jamaica. Delroy was produced by Bunny Lee through the 1970s. On a concert tour of Britain in 1987 Wilson performed at The Hummingbird Club in Birmingham, whilst there he was photographed by televison producer and photographer Pogus Caesar.

Delroy Wilson died on 6 March 1995 at Kingston's UWI hospital from complications following a liver ailment.
