Dave Godin (1936-October 15, 2004) was an English fan of American soul music. He coined the term northern soul and was the first person to use Tamla and Motown together when he founded the Tamla Motown Appreciation society. Godin introduced his contemporary Mick Jagger to black American music in the early sixties. He went on to show interests in other areas including Esperanto and especially film, becoming involved in the British Film Institute. He was also known for his involvement in anarchist and anti-capitalist organizations, including the Freedom Newspaper and Class War.
