Dagomba is a kingdom in northern Ghana. It was founded in 1409 and still exists today, having survived British colonialism. Like other kingdoms in Ghana, it has some autonomy but is subordinate to the federal government. It has been very unstable in recent times, and its last ruler, Yakubu II was killed in tribal clashes in 2002.
