Culture economy

Culture Economy is a theory and place development strategy based on the use of particular local knowledge and resources. The strategy seeks to promote local empowerment through aiming at utilising place-specific knowledge and expressions in new cultural and economic development processes. Examples of such resources can be local myths and stories, food, natural resources, cultural expressions and artefacts, language, music, etc. Telemark Research Institute of Norway (www.tmforskbo.no)has a department specialising in rural development based on the Culture Economy approach.
