Chimalpopoca (died circa 1427) was the third Tlatoani, or Aztec ruler of Tenochtitlán. He succeeded his father Huitzilihuitl as ruler of Mexica. Chimalpopoca was involved in violent intrigue with the rulers of Azcapotzalco, apparently involving tit-for-tat assassination attempts. Taken captive by an expeditionary force from Azcapotzalco and exhibited in a cage, Chimalpopoca committed suicide. His uncle Itzcoatl succeeded him as Tlatoani.
