Chapra (or Chupra) is a city of Bihar state in India. Located on the Ganghara River just above its junction with the Ganges, its 1991 population was 136,877. Chapra is a road and rail hub, as well as a center for trade in agricultural products, and has four campuses affiliated with Bihar University .
Chapra (or Chupra)was earlier part of greater district called Saran. Later Saran was broken into three district Chapra, Siwan and Gopalganj.
Now Lalu Prasad Yadav fights from Chapra district. Few memorial at Chapra are Majrhool Haq and temple of Ambaji.
