A chaan-teng (茶餐廳) is a kind of Hong Kong-styled fast-food restaurant. Typically, customers are free to select seats freely, after which they are immediately given cups of tea. Chopsticks are provided through a shared metal container placed at every table. In some chaan-tengs, to order, customers shout their order to a waiter, who will then write the price on a card provided to every group of customers. After their meal, customers will give this card to the cashier.
