Bhagwan is a Sanskrit word meaning Blessed one. Historically, it is used by many spiritual masters in India including Gautama Buddha and Ramana Maharshi.

Bhagwan is a term used to refer God in Hindi, the mother tongue of India. The term "Hey Bhagwan" is used similarly as "O! Jesus". A TV serial in India recently started using the term "Hey Bhaggu" to express a feeling of surprise or shock.
