The Bahraini Dinar is the official currency of Bahrain. It is divided into 1000 fils. The name dinar derives from the Roman denarius.
Coins in circulation are 10, 25, 50, 100, and 500 fils.
Banknotes in circulation are 500 fils; 1, 5, 10, 20 dinar.
As of January 2, 2005 the dinar was worth 2.65259 United States dollars, making it the third highest valued currency after the Kuwaiti Dinar and Maltese Lira.
