Bad Gandersheim is a city in southern Lower Saxony, Germany, located in the district Northeim. Population 11,073 (2003). The city includes 16 surrounding villages.

The city is a spa (hence the Bad in the name), due to two minerals wells.

The city dates back to 852, when a monastery was created in Brunshausen. In 990 the monastery received the market and tax rights. In 1159 Gandersheim was first mentioned as a city.
