The term Azure (from Persian لاژورد lazhward) can refer to any of the following:

• The blueish color of the sky.
• The sky itself when it has no clouds.
• The tincture with the color blue in heraldry, see azure (heraldry).

The name derives from the gemstone lapis lazuli and can also refer to a pigment produced with the crushed mineral.
